Might there be a better way to win the war on terror other than using the conventional US Military?

It's been 5 years now & not only hasn't the US military won the war in Iraq they haven't won the war in Afganhistan either. We all know the reasons why the US military hasn't won including: Democrats, Bush, Rumsfeld, Rules of engagement, lack of troops, unsecure Iraqi/Afghan borders, etc....

But might there be something that can be done to win the war on terror without having to invade every country in the world that may or may not have them?

Maybe do what the Israelis do most the time in their 30 year war on terror: Fight terror w/ terror & make sure your borders are as secure as possible. Which means using good intelligence (spys) & military special forces to destroy the terrorists & build a good strong fence/wall on the US southern border.

Otherwise the US is going to fighting Iraq type wars for the next 100 years or more & is that what Americans want?

I'm going to agree with you that we probably should fight Iraqiis terror tactics with our own version of terror. If it means leveling their playing field, so be it! Ultimately they will have to cave as they get the message we mean business!

In WWI and WWII we occupied germany, and helped rebuild their govt. There is nothing any different about the time it takes to do that. The one major difference in this case is there are insurgents fighting in both countries. These are the radical islamist, that will not stop until everyone who disagrees with them is dead. They don't like Christianity, democracy, or capitalism. They believe it is evil. We are sending them a mixed message here in the US as well. We are telling them we are going to pull out of Iraq. This is the wind in their sails. They believe this is a Holy war and they are going to win. With our govt arguing over the troop placement, they see us as a country divided. As a country divided we can not stand in the face of adversity. We don't need to be defensive, we need to be offensive. So the only thing that these guys understand, is conventional US war tactics. Look at the news reports daily, they attack civilians. So there is no amount of talking you can do.
