Should I get Rhinoplasty (nose surgery)? I'll pick the best answer :)?

Question

My nose is 1 3/4 inches long and i'm reeally self consious about it :( and i want to get Rhinoplasty to make it shorter. Here's a picture I just took from the side so you can see. What do you think? But don't write anything mean, ok? :)

Anyone ever had the surgery before, and can tell me if its a good idea?

I'm paying for it myself, so it's not like my parents are going along with this or anything..
I never take pics from the side...so i just took that one to show you...and I'm very conscious in public, like when I'm around guys I try to always look AT them. And I hate being at the movies with a date b/c they look at me from the side view.....eh

Honestly, no one can really answer that question but yourself.

If you spend a lot of time in the mirror, poking and prodding... maybe surgery would ease your mind. If your nose is that big of a deal to you, it may be worth it to just do the surgery and get it out of the way.

My advice is to find a reputable plastic surgeon in the area and set up a consultation. Get their professional opinion, learn about the procedure, and make your decision from there.

I've had plastic surgery (though not a rhinoplasty). I honestly feel it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. However, it is definitely not something to take lightly. Only after getting all the necessary information, can you honestly make a well-informed decision on what would be best for YOU.

From the first photo I would say ... go for it. It is a bit long but the shape is still very nice, not all hooked or anything deformed. In the second I just see a very beautiful young woman and the nose is fine. Your eyes are magnificent.

However, going by the first, if you feel you need this to make yourself "perfect" in your eyes, go for it. You are a beautiful young woman but you already know that. It is just a matter of extra fancy icing on the cake so to speak.

I have known three women who had it, all of them were Jewish and had a big of a problem. They were all very happy with the results and it really did make them much prettier by Aryan standards. Key word there, "Aryan".

I am not a big believer in alterations unless there is a serious deformity, however, because this is a serious piece of surgery and you will have to live with the results if something does go wrong. If you are paying for it yourself, I would put the money towards education first, however. That is what will pay the bucks when you are older. And, in the long run, a good man is more interested in your mind than your nose.

I bet you never realized how many ethical issues were involved, did you, honey?

Your nose is not ugly. It is longish, but it has a nice shape. I will tell you this: rhinoplasty surgery risks to change the type of your face with a nose that doesn't fit the face. I've had 2 cases like that with friends of mine: they wanted to correct small problems of their noses, and they ended up with ugly noses! They looked much better before.
However, I also have 2 exaples of my cousins, who had noses with very bad shape. They both went to the best plastic surgeon in Greece, and they have nice noses now.
So basically, what I am saying is that although in your case I don't think it is necessary to get surgery, if you decide to do it you must go to the best doctor, even if that means that you will pay more (if you can't afford it just don't risk doing it), after you've seen the results of his work, and make sure the change you get is very slight, and it doesn't change the shape of your nose. Your nose is nicely pointy at the end, if it becomes round it won't be good! The best results will be if you feel you paid your money for little change! Don't make the doctor change the length too much either. A small nose will not look good on your face, because you have intense features ( big beautiful eyes, etc.)
If you ask me, don't do it, unless you really feel bad about it, but do a lot of research first. I think it will be hard to shorten it without altering the shape, but a top surgeon can explain to you what will happen.

I really don't think it's "surgery" bad - just my personal opinion. I don't want to get into the whole "Everyone is made differently, love yourself the way you are made" (because I don't believe that either, ha!), but cosmetic surgery is a big step and there are a lot of things that can go wrong with it. If you are self-concious about your nose and feel the need to shorten it, by all means, do so! Just be prepared to live with a nose that may not live up to your expectations if something goes wrong.

i think you are absolutely beautiful and don't need it. but i guess that doesn't totally help so heres a bit more..if you want you could just get rid of te ball at the end, i guess.
i have a nose very similar to that and i wouldn't change it for the world. i have grown to love myself just the way i am. i man you look the way you look be comfortable and go with it. we are all different. embrace it.

If you really feel that getting the surgery will improve the way you feel about yourself, then I guess you should do it. I don't really support plastic surgery, but I think it can help some people sometimes.

Why don't you put some ACTUAL pictures of just your nose. Not your myspace pictures. And if I were you, I wouldn't. But that's probably just because mommy and daddy don't give me every little thing I want.
