No. That is what empathy does for us.
Also...I don't need to experience some thing in order to help some one else solve their problems.

For example;

1. A drug counselor does not need to experience a drug addiction to help an addict get clean...it helps...but is not necessary.

2. A lawyer need not break a law to be able to assist their client in their troubles. Just knowledge of the law and how to handle a legal case.

3. A good friend does not have to experience the death of a loved one to support and help a friend that has. They just need to be a good friend.

4. I do not need to experience famine so I can feed the hungry nor poverty to help the poor.

Although having experience in the particular area of trouble is very helpful...it is not required.

Thankfully we have the ability of empathy and compassion.

I try not to make absolute statements like everyone, no one, always or never, because life has different aspects to it and there are some exceptions to general rules.

Some people who have suffered the same problems as me, but have given me bad advice. Most, thankfully, warn me before I go through the same thing they have in a similar situation. No one is truly the same, and ultimately we are all responsible for our own actions.

A person can indirectly solve another's problems without experiencing the same situations. I believe in fate, and things happen for a reason, even though we don't understand what it is while it is happening.

All these experiences shape who you and I really are. We suffer and have joy in what we have been given, and try to do the best we can with that.

A burn specialist have got to be there in it to know how it feels to get burnt ? No way, imbibe the best or worst out of others experience so that you know where to draw the line - bad or good.Self -experience is only to be used when you want to tell others how you had been there . You cannot solve others by being there . You have to be a impassive onlooker and not a passionate actor to be a good problem -solver

I am not so sure. What about doctors? should they suffer every disease in order to be able to cure it? I suppose you'd say no. What about psychiatrists? or psychologists? financial advisers? lawyers? people with friendly advice? Well, some of them can really solve your problems without having experienced them, others can't solve them even if they have the experience.
Maybe what you need is just empathy or maybe the absence of first-hand experience gives you the necessary distance for being more objective.

People don't have problems. They have challenges. They have opportunities. It usually takes some to help see a "problem" from a different perspective. So, I would argue ask your hypothesis.

If you're right, a doctor could never solve a cancerous tumor for someone unless they have had a cancerous tumor themselves.

No, being able to understand others problems and think about what they are feeling is a powerful tool. Empathy is what makes you able to know how people are feeling without feeling it yourself and many times it helps people who are going through it more when a new set of eyes are looking at a situation, one that hasn't done it yet so they see more options.

I disagree . It's easier to be less emotional and more objective if you are offering advice . However , experience can also be beneficial when it comes to relating what did and did not work for you in the same circumstance .

it's not other people's responsibility to fix you, they can offer their story of advice, most of the advice i get is something i already know, just hearing it out loud from other person makes it seem like it makes more sense.
nobody can help you but you. you have to end your own suffering. you already know the answer, it's just cloudy and buried under thoughts and worries.
