There were rain delays...deaths...resignations...it was an all round crap tournament! What do you think?

The world cup this year was innovative in terms of the Aussies inventing "power cricket". And then there was Bangladesh showing glimpses of promise. Then we saw how much fitness matters with the Irish giving a great account of themselves. I mean, good old Bob passed away in awry circumstances but we need to look in to the positives always. RIP Bob.
Well we also saw how important the world cup as a "possession" is to all the test playing countries, with coaches and captains resigning left and right!

Overall, I liked this year's CWC.

One of the main reasons is personal, that team from my country Bangladesh played reasonably well though their performances were not at all 'steady'. They would be winning in one match and losing subsequent two to three matches.

The lack of spectators to cheer-up the teams were also noticeable though the people of West Indies (all the nations) were in generally very friendly, joyous and enjoyed the events thoroughly. I think the population density made the stadium look barren unlike India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and such cricket crazy nation’s people did not stop their daily routine to go watching the games on the field.

The selection of venue and time of the year was also a bit not clear to me since almost 50% of the matches were somehow affected by the weather, rain in particular. Hope the ICC officials would consult the meteorologists for proper forecasting of the weather before finalizing the next CWC to avoid repetition of this CWC's fate.

Death of Pakistani cricket coach Bob Woolmer was the anticlimax - disappointingly trivial conclusion to something significant.

It would be great injustice to even think that it was an all round crap tournament though since with little human and financial resources the WI Cricket management did their best. One may blame the ICC management for this or that lapses but how many of you can vouch and say that the merry making part was not done superbly by the people involved?

The fun part was overcastted due to lack or performances from the established houses like those of India and Pakistan and may be bad luck for South Africa and New Zealand!

It had good and bad thing
Good things
6 sixes even if it was against a weak team
the first double hat trick, 4 wicket in a row
The end of a career for some great players

bad things
death yes that was very sad (they think match fitting was the reason. A friend told me he was writing a book on match fitting)
rain delays happens every world cup
Continuing play in the dark

This was the first time i watched the CWC(last time i was in third grade).
Overall,i was happy because I was going for the Aussies, and they won, third time in a row. i didnt miss a single Aussie game.
Bob Woolmer's death was very sad, but we all have to learn that everyone will die, one day or another.
The resignations were really sad, too- India's coach, etc.
The many retirements were also extremely sad- Brian Lara, Glenn McGrath and many other great cricketers, many who were and will always be legends.
I cant say much about weather it was crappy or not since i dont have too much experience in watching cricket.
I cannot wait until the ICC CWC 2011.
BTW, congrats to the Aussies!!!!

This year's world cup was the most disappointing nor only because of early exit of India and Pakistan Teams from the world cup, but also due to the fact that except 2 or 3 match no other match produced any excitement.

To tell you the truth, as a Lion Lakan I've watched every single cricket game bc, 2003 I was young & didn't know much about or had intrest in cricket however, I was happy bc, my team, Sri Lanka went all the way to the finals.

Bad part: Sri Lanka did not play a fair game for the final bc, their was no night lights, rain, and steriod usage from Adam Gilchrist hitting 149 against Lions.

With Sri Lanka losing its like L.A. Dodgers losing to NewYork Yankees.

Yes, their were chances for Adam Gilchrist to get out but, if the field is wet & bad light, And a white cricket ball, how da heck can the lion fielders see and catch the cricket ball.

This was my worst game I ever seen In my life span: The Final.

Other than that, I enjoyed every match from every cricket team.

It was the worst worldcup ever... very unlucky for cricket... Pakistan and India were already out.. west indies and england didnt played well... South Africa and Newzeeland lost with fight in the semis they were not supposed to lose like that...
and yes you are ryte that... RAINS, DEATH of WOOLMER, and lots of resignations..of great players... made all bad in the cricket history...but in the other hand... the only team who is happy and very lucky was Austrailia...

in my opinion .. i didnt liked this worldcup ..

I didn't like it either, as the Final was the most controversial WC Final in Cricket history. Also, it seemed like organizers wanted Aussies to win and make a hat-trick. I didn't like that at all.
