The other answerers are correct in saying that you're comparing apples and oranges: an acre is a measure of area and miles measure linear distance.

But I'll go out on a limb and figure that you mean square miles? There are 640 acres to a square mile. 78 million acres divided by 640 acres per square mile equals 121,875 square miles. Just a little larger than the state of New Mexico.

Foul. Acres is a unit of area. Miles is a linear measurement. You should know better.

acres= area miles= distance

Acrage measures area. Miles measures distance. You need to pick like units/measurements.
