Actually I say pull some of our troops out and go in with air power and flatten the place.

We wouldn't need the draft if we weren't in a war that we shouldn't be. Name me an Iraqi or anyone connected to Iraq that attacked the US. You can't because there wasn't one. And now the world knows we were duped into the WMD theory. And you are not going to win a sectarian civil war in another country. Bush is too stubborn to pull the troops out and Cheney doesn't care as long as Halliburton makes money. At least know the real truth.

If the draft was activated, we would not have the troop strength we need to have the surge and train the new troops. We would have to reduce troop strength in Iraq and Afghanistan to have enough cadres to train these people..
We really don't have enough men to maintain the surge.
Actually the "Surge" was the most short sighted blunder since the decision not to guard Iraqi Ammunition Depots.
That only allowed thousands of tons of explosives to fall into the hands of the enemy.
Besides the Generals don't make money on troops, they get thier "Cosultants" jobs from Defense Contractors by buying Gadgets.

If the troops were allowed to do their jobs, then we would not need a draft. Untie their HANDS!
I however would love to see a half million pissed off ground pounders flood Iraq.
Bring back the draft. Make every able bodied 18 year old serve their country. Its only fair. If they want to call our soldiers baby killers, then they should be on the receiving end also.

I'm no fan of this war, but if it was to be done, it should have been done right from the start, not just to pump money into Bush's friends' pockets.
adding troops to a situation where the White House actively undermines competent leadership in the field will not win the war.
we need a regime change at home, whether or not we stay in Iraq.

The USA will need a general military draft/conscription act in the next three or four years at this rate. Congress will never go for it.

Sounds good to me - but I still prefer getting our troops out now and let the Middle East erupt in violence. It has been that way for hundreds of years. It isn't going to get better because Arabs hate everybody, including other Arabs.

We've already turned it into a terrorist breeding failed state and the world knows we've failed. We have to admit it to ourselves and the world for the healing to start.

My fellow Democrats understand that!! That's why we have an active bill on the floor to reinstate the draft. You can read about it on Charles Rangel's (D-NY) web site (link below).

We don't need a draft. What makes our military as good as it is the fact that our people believe in what they are doing.
