In real history, it wasn't like that. Leonidas send the guy back with this message to the Persian king: "Molon Lave" = Come and get it!

That movie was soooo good.

Yeah, that poor guy. The king was a meanie for doing such a thing. The guy was just delivering a message.

(Although, I probably would have done the same thing, if some dude came onto my turf w/ propositions to surrender my land ...or else.)

Not in the slightest.
The crowned heads of kings that he brought to the city steps was as clear a threat as can be, then insulting the queen, he had it coming.

if he had not insulted the queen, i would have agreed with you.

but if you come into someone's house being disrepectful and then insult the woman of the house, you kind of deserve what you get.

you know who i felt sorry for? the guys that were WITH the messenger--they didn't do anything.

.I guess he could have held the guy prisoner while they did a preemptive strike on the Persians. I would have got some info from him then use him as a weapon!
