800............. x
------ = --------
20,000 100

20,000x= 80000
x = 4%

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

75...... x
----- = ------
3 20

3x = 1500
x = 500
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5.37 / 3 = 1.79
So I gallon cost $1.79

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
72 / 6 = 12
So it takes 12 min to wash one car.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4 ft 8 in
9ft 5 in
9ft 3 in
-----------
22 ft 16in

23 ft 4 in is the total length of material needed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

change 5in........... x
----------- = --------- = ----------
original 62in 100

62x = 500
x = 8%

25 points/game * 20games = 500 points

-Write a proportion that is equivalent to the statement. If 3 Gallons of gas cost $5.37, then 8 gallons will cost $14.32
$5.37 / 3 = $14.32 / 8

-Brent washed 6 cars in 72 minutes. How many min. does it take Brent to wash one car?
72 min / 6 cars = 12 min/car

-A railing for a deck requires pieces of wood 4 ft 8 in., 9 ft 5 in., and 9 ft 3 in. long. What is the total length of material that is needed?
4' 8"
9' 5"

Ok, I am not giving you answers, but you should have a formula for the first problem. I= loan x rate or 800=20,000 x R

#2 find out how many he scored in ONE game first. Divide 75 by 3, then multiply that by how many games.

#3 this one is self explanatory. IF you listened at all in class you shouldn't even have any trouble with this.

#4 this one is also just a cross multiplication problem. Set it up as cars over minutes.

#5 ADD this up

#6 Bob and John....not enough information to answer for John

1. (X%)(20,000) = 800
X% = (800)/(20,000) = .04 or 4%

2. (75 pts)/(3 games) = (x pts)/(20 games)
(3 games)(x pts) = (75 pts)(20 games)
x pts = (1500 pts*game)/(3 games) = 500 pts

3. (3 gallons)/($5.37) = (8 gallons)/($14.32)

4. (6 cars)/(72 min) = (1 car)/(x min)
(72 min)(1 car) = (6 cars)(x min)
x = (72 min)/(6 cars) = 12 minutes

5. 4ft 8in
9ft 5in
9ft 3in
----------
23ft 4in

6. There's no information for John!

Last question: Based on the given information, I think the rate of increase in John's height is zero because nothing says his height increased at all.
