Each business / entity has its own unique problems and requirements and where money is not a constraint for developing and installing suitable application / software; or where the money to be spent for development of a suitable problems and requirements matching application / software is found worth spending due to the possible advantages on account of such application results, these I.T. companies come into picture and offer to develop and provide clients' need based applications. These applications may be different in one or many ways from the standard package on such kind of solutions readily available with the companies, therefore, normally costs more than the standard applications available. These requirement matching development capabilities of any IT company leads to provisioning of customised application development.

It means.. that the company does the business of developing programs(applications) which suit the specific needs of the customers. Infact this is what any software company do. Few companies also develop applications which are not customized to a specific company but can be used by many companies (like MS office and SAP etc...)

This means that the company will write custom programs, macros, triggers, applications, etc. to deal with special requirements.
