Yes. They need another great complimentory WR to opposite Roy Williams. It brings a whole new dimension to the Lions if they can have to dynamic WR's. Because they cant just double cover Roy.

And if you didnt notice Furrey had 98 recepts (2nd last year) So whats wrong with 3 great WRs. Never really hurt the Colts. And with the addition of Tatum Bell and TJ Duckett to share carries with Kevin Jones the Lions could have a very prolific offense this season. Their pass can make the run game easier, and their run game can do the same for the pass.

Martz is a genious looked what he did with Holt, Bruce, Faulk and that group. THeres nothing wrong with a great O.

And with Rogers being bust and out of the league and Mike WIlliams lazy and in Oakland, a little more talent at the WR position couldnt hurt.

Calvin Johnson 6'5 , 235, runs a 4.35, and has aboslutely no 'flashy reciever' 'big headed' 'me-me-me' problems. whats wrong with this pick?

Calvin Johnson is different from the other first round receivers they drafted. He is a once in a lifetime pick. They were able to address their qb need in the second round and got a very good qb that can sit for a year or two behind Kitna. Calvin Johnson will be an instant upgrade to their offense.

He was the best player available. Since they couldn't make a trade, they did the best thing they could do. If they were able to trade down, they would have taken Gaines Adams or Brady Quinn. Getting rid of Mike Williams shows that they are committed to improving their recievers, and Drew Stanton will be a good replacement for Kitna. If they can upgrade their o-line, the pick won't look bad at all.

No they have plenty of WR's already and they need a good QB or more help for the o-line. i thought they would take Quinn or Thomas.

on the other hand people already think calvin johnson is a hall of famer if he's what people think he is then thats one hell of a draft choice.

I don't know. It's kind of like buying a Lotus and not having gas. He is no doubt a talented WR, but he needs a QB to get him the ball. I think they missed the boat once again not signing a QB.

You get the best player in the entire draft and Lion fans are still pissed? Go figure.

Yeah.
Detroit owners aren't trying to win a championship, they'te just trying to get paid.
CJ shouldl be a big crowd pleaser and keep the seats filled until his contract expires and hopefully he'll have the presence of mind to get out of there.
Any of the other 31 teams can use his ability.
SOMEBODY SAVE HIM.
Get him out of Detroit.
Hey JJ, how about you opening your wallet and bringing him to Dallas?

He'll be a great addition on offense but the should have gone defense, they have a terrible D especiall with Dre Bly gone.

They didn't need a WR, but he is better than any of the ones they currently have. They will just need to unload one of their WR. But when someone with that much talent is available you take him.
