Usually when a prince becomes king, his wife is queen by default. I know that there's some reason she can't be queen, I just can't remember what it is.

In law she will be Queen. Charles does not 'prefer' that she is not called Queen, but they are simply deferring to hostile public opinion. In law she is Princess of Wales but they are afraid of angering the legions of Diana loyalists for whom that is Diana's title. Everyone is just maintaining a fiction so as not to offend a public reluctant to accept her.

There is no legal reason why Camilla can't become Queen. The decision will be up to Charles, and I have a feeling that he will more likely pick Princess Consort as a title. That will be a first, though there have been 2 Prince Consorts - Prince George of Denmark, who was married to Queen Anne and Prince Albert, married to Queen Victoria. Prince Philip has never had the title, for whatever reason.

I think if she becomes Queen, the people will revolt. I don't think she's particularly popular and I imagine having an oddly featured Charles as King is more than enough without having an equally odd featured Queen. Besides, she isn't royal family by blood so she can't be Queen. Like how Queen Elizabeth is Queen instead of Prince Philip because she's a royal descendent and not him.

As the wife of Prince Charles she is technically Princess of Wales, therefore when he becomes king she will be Queen Camilla.

According to this article, Camilla can indeed become Queen when Charles becomes King, even though she is a divorcee. However, Charles will likely want her to be known as the Princess Consort.

Charles and Camilla have publicly stated that, when and if he becomes King, she will not take the title of Queen Consort but rather will take the title Princess Consort.

The monarch's married partner is called whatever the monarch wishes them to be called, and Parliament will agree too. There are no rules.

Most King's wives have been called "Queen" but not all of them.

Camilla has not got a particularly good public image anyway, and she and Charles have wisely decided that they will do much better as "The King and the Duchess of Cornwall" than as anything else.

You are mistaken in thinking that Camilla won't be Queen Consort;she is.She has taken the title HRH Duchess of Cornwall as the courtesy title she wishes to be addressed by,but she still is the Princess of Wales. She chose The Duchess of Cornwall as her courtesy title out of repect for the late Princess of Wales,Diana, who is still sorely missed by many. When Charles becomes King, she will become Queen Consort.

She's been divorced. Therefore after Charles ascends the throne she will be styled HRH The Princess Consort.

Because she has committed adultery during her married life and because she has been divorced. And she is a thorn in the eyes of Queen Elizabeth. God bless Elizabeth, cause she knows why she won't have the Rottweiler as a Queen.
