It is forcing them to go "toe-to-toe" with women who refuse to conform to stereotypes and written and/or unwritten rules about their roles in society and life in general. Not every woman is destined to be married, a mother and homemaker. Some wish to live their lives in other ways, and thanks to the Feminist Movement and all the progress that has been made, they are able to do so. Feminism has also lead to the empowerment of women to be able to support and protect themselves. In cases of abuse, assault, discrimination, women have rights and are able to fight back when an injustice has been done to them. The film Norma Rae is a perfect example of this, and it's not graphically violent, it still gets the point across.

I think many men are just overwhelmed by Feminism of any level.
My Dad is 68, and I remember growing up and hearing him make jokes about women "chained to the stove", and a housewife is "something that opens your beer and then you stand it up in the corner until you want another beer"
Whew--he was a real comedian.
He went to Viet Nam in 68 and when he returned, the world had changed enormously.
In the early 70's when Feminism came into its own, my Dad was kind of like Archie bunker-pissed off and baffled.
Now he's like some of the little guys here on Women Studies--he picks fights, sends anti-Hillary emails he knows will provoke, and generally tries to be as obnoxious as possible.
My Dad was married to two beautiful women--my Mom and Step Mom, and he blew it with his misogynistic, unfaithful, mean, spiteful and disrespectful ways.
He lives alone, just spouting his anti-feminist BS to any passersby. Since I know my Dad, I'd say that for him, Feminism was and is viewed as disastrous.
Does anybody really care? No.
My Dad feels the same way about ALL minorities.Sad.
We all have to recognize and change with the evolution of Humanity.
Good luck

Only in enlightening us...

To women, feminism is a struggle to gain equality.
For men, feminism is the realization that an entire group of people have been disenfranchised for most of human history. It breaks away the way that we see the world, and forces us to incorporate a harsh fact into the way we perceive the world.

It can be nice if a guy finds a girl that makes more money than him to help pay for things.
I read that more women are going to college than men now so that might be possible for a few men.
However, I think some men get jealous if the wife is giving most of her attention to people outside the household.

The effect on me is some confusion. I see two different images of women: One is women outnumbering men in universities, and increasingly populating the worlds of business and politics. The other is endless television ads involving women and hair products, face products, shoes and shopping, clothes, sexy undergarments, etc. etc. Once in a while, you see a woman in a car commercial.
Looking at society in general, I see that the older values are still with us, somehow. Women still, if they are honest, want to partner with a man who makes MORE money than she does, even while many women complain about that disparity. A guy can no longer be in the dating market just because he has a job. He has to have a GREAT job.

Heres a sample list.
1# Divorce (From a woman not being subject to her husband).
2#Abortion (affects men because the child is his also).
3#Makes it harder for men to find jobs(from women working outside the home).
4#Legislation's over human resources( Women voters affecting the poles differently then what it would normally be with all male voters causing different candidates to win in turn who make harsher laws against mens rights. ie custody battles, special privileges for minorities and women.
5# Unfaithful wives( again from lack of respect for men and the feelings).
6# Homosexuality( making no distinction between the sexes brings confusion when men and women have the same roles , hair styles and cloths)
I could go on forever with this list but you get the idea.

I think men like feminism. They don't like feebleness though.... I think I'll wait for some other answers to your question, I'm curious about this myself.

For some men feminism challenges their long held beliefs about who they (men) really are as it shakes them out of their complacency and highlights their insecurities.

It's different for every man. Some are progressive enough to welcome the changes and work for more. Others are content with the status quo and want to protect it from damage.
