Why do some motorcyclist insist on riding like complete nutbags and spoil everyone elses driving pleasure. Been out for a drive with the wife and kids this afternoon and they were everywhere buzzing around like wasps. They pull infront of you so you have to jam on the breaks, make you swerve out of the way, make you jump, ride to close etc etc. Before all you bikers start ranting, I have a vfr 800 which I enjoy riding but don't p**s off every other road user. Why do they/you do it?

Your right there Piranha, all the 1 peice race suit boys come out as soon as the sun comes out. Their highly polished superbikes most likely only see a couple of thousand miles a year. Sad really

piranha has a very good point, but this doesnt just apply to idiotic sport rocket riders, but harley and usually, big dresser types. they have the balls to go 120+ on the freeway on 1 wheel, but they dont have the balls to handle a little brief shower that u'd 'blow dry' within 10 miles.
i ride also, but i know better than to disrespect my machine on the street where anything could happen in an eyeblink.
last season, i was heading home in the van, and a couple of sport bikes materialized out of nowhere, and basically, they were halfway into my lane just to go around a 'slow' cage. to this day i have no idea how the hell i didnt wind up with 1 under my wheels. payback is a bitc-h tho....a cop just happened to be behind me, and flipped a 180 faster than i've ever seen a cop do.

my bike is a cruiser, not a rocket. i dont try to crank it to even 75 for the most part. it'll do it, but ohio isnt a 75 mph on the interstate state.

The point that must be pointed out is it is but a few, & the "young punks" that do this can be quite mature in their age, so don't relagate stupidity & ignorance to the young.

Also you will find ignorant & stupid "adults" in all areas of vehicles wheter it be riding, driving, sailing etc, the minority is what spoils being out & about for other users.

Drive like you would ride, as if you where invisable, and be prepared to stop or/and avoid another vehicle in an instant. Remain cool & level headed, because the minute you get wound up you start to make silly mistakes (or bad judgement calls) that will affect more than just you.

The other thing is get your wife to get her riders licence & put your children on the back & "ride together as a family" that's what our family will be doing as soon as the youngest feet gets to the pegs. But for now my hubby rides out I drive & on the way home we swap or vice versa (that way we both get to have the delights of bike riding.)

I ride my bike year round in Maine and I think that the people in cars do not care about the people on bikes at all. If you were on your bike and someone was going slow in front of you then you would be complaining about that,
I get out there on my cruiser and have a nice easy ride, their are also times that I take out the Katana and have a spirited ride.
Now how about the idiots in the cars that pull out in front of us riders? Or the ones that almost run you off the road because they "didn't see you" because you are on your bike? But then again you have the idiots in the cars that do that to ya when you are in a car also.
Just remember that you have to watch out for the other person whether you are in a car or on your bike!

Did you ever notice that people are crazy or nut bags if theyre going faster than you? If theyre going slower theyre non driver/riders dont know what the hell theyre doing. Think about it.

I am out there zooming the back roads, at what I would consider a sane pace (see above). Do we need more cops, hell no. If were riding your *** youre going too slow and were looking for a way around, if youre a decent sort you'll pull over and let us by. I'll even wave nicely to the kiddies.

Probably because they have not had proper rearing and training. Most parents take 2 jobs these days and therefore don't properly raise their kids. As a result, we have raised a generation or two of mostly angst-ridden spoiled brats, that think the world owes them something, hard work is for somebody else, and that they have a right to break all the rules.

The answer isn't more law enforcement, it is more parenting. Make sure you don't do the same thing to YOUR kids - give them proper supervision and mentoring, and they will end up treating a motorcycle with the respect that it deserves!

an undesirable lot of the bikers on listed the following are misinformed - yet you're also. Kindly let us know the position your figures come from. the present motorcycle safe practices study develop into performed through team Oregon, a US motorcycle safe practices and training employer. They performed this study depending on the very shown reality that motorcycle injuries contained in the U. S. were steadily increasing considering that 1995. study heavily, bikers - you may want to compared to those info! they discovered that 88% of bike injuries were the fault of the RIDER - not a vehicle. vehicles ignoring motorcycles (left turns, etc.) can for this reason be no better than 12% of the injuries, so get over that previous suggested already! to boot, 60% of the injuries were unmarried vehicle, that signifies that there develop into no vehicle in contact. The damage document is over 30 years previous. many stuff have replaced on the line in this time! motorcycles are extra helpful now, extra agile, have mandatory lights, are louder (unforturnately), and universal inspire extra self belief contained in the rider than they did back then. This frequently interprets into rushing and reckless habit. mandatory and extra efficient training is the answer. attempting to vacation effectively does recommend you may want to vacation at a velocity slightly quicker than the site visitors round you. it really is so that you do not linger in any blind spots. i attempt to keep that interior of 5mph of surrounding site visitors. I really were driving for merely about 25 years, and performance experienced perchance 2 circumstances that a vehicle did not see me - a thoughts extra in my truck for the time of the same time period!

Unfortunately for the rest of us a minority of tossers give the general public the wrong impression of the biking community.
If I'm out a run and a see a group of sports bikes acting like that I normally go a different way to distance myself from them.
Sometimes though I like to humiliate them for fun, ever seen a 600 Bandit go round the outside of an R1?.....

Immature kids. They just finished playing their latest video game and want some excitement in the real world. They buy bikes that they have no respect for their performance and ride them to their limits.
I wish there were more cops on the road, locking those dirt bags up for a couple of weeks. They ruin the reputation of law abiding riders and give motorcyclists a bad reputation.
Anyone reading this, that wants to ride like a "bat out of hell", should save that stuff for race days at the track!
