We have seen so many teams like Sri Lanka, Australia etc. who won World Cups & in the years that immediately followed, they were in top form and went on unbeaten streak for years. The less fortunate teams who didn't win have always been inconsistent & struggled to be a top-class team.

What in your opinion is the significance of the World Cup & why winning the World Cup could make teams into cricketing superpowers?

Simply, it's an ego boast. It's clear evidence that a team is bloody brilliant, and they know it. Any player on any team would feel more confident about games and such when they have the World Cup under their belt.

World Cup, besides being the tournament giving most Prize money than any other tournament in cricket , it is the most prestigious trophy in the game of Cricket and the winner of the world cup is considered as the Champions in the game of cricket.

I do not think winning the world cup will make any team cricketing super power ever, as except Australia, and to certain extent West Indies, no other country who have won the world cup has remained super power in cricket for a long period.

It gives the recognition that they are the best and the bonus money is not too bad either. In my opinion beating the best teams in the world is a hugh reward in itself and whatever goes with it just a byproduct. Winning does not make you a super power because the gap is almost always narrow and others will come back at you the next time with more preparations and vengeance. You in a race that that you will keep running until you're over taken by someone else.

It is a matter of big business and creates wealth ,it gives them power ,fame, glory and riches beyond their wildest dreams.Because it is Televised they are supported by the Worlds Media, which puts their lives in the spotlight. The World Cup is an invention of man and is created for the human competitive spirit. The world of sports has to perfect its own field.

The money isnt too bad. The CWC is the best thing a cricketer could want. Winning it four times isnt shabby for the Aussies-its a record!!!!! winning the CWC makes your homeland proud and makes you feel proud and honourable. other teams could be just as good as SL and SA if they just work harder, and are more consistent and put in a lot more effort.
the aussies did all that, so they deserve to win.
congrats, aussies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Aussies win, itz different. it doesn't mean anything to them becuz they have won so many times and it has kinda become like a habit.
If other teams win, it really means a lot to em.

I don't think WC proves anything to a team if they become World Champion.
(What if India had beaten AUS if they had chance to play; AUS didn't play all the teams, right?)
