LET IT BE KNOWN THAT AFTER A DIVORCE YOU ARE DEFIANTLY REFERRED TO AS SINGLE SO LIVE LIFE TO ITS FULLEST AND YOU DO NOT HAVE TO INDULGE ANY INFO THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO SO GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE YOU FIND THE RIGHT PERSON THAT LOVES YOU FOR YOU AND THAT DOESN'T THINK DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS OK

Not having divorce in the Philippines is not something worth bragging. To me it is a shame. So many people are separated but couldn't get free legally. I am for divorce. I don't know why people just can't accept the fact that people do change and marriages fall apart. There really is no such thing as till death do us part. People just tolerate each other at best. It only happens in movies. Real life is different.

Some church you had there. It sounds like some other people had a problem with you being divorced. it doesn't sound like you have a problem if you know what I mean. Try a UCC church, they're pretty accepting of people.
Maybe instead of divorced or single, say you're "not married."
I'm sure the experience that you and Namaste had at church was painful. I'm sorry.

You can say you are single, as you are not currently married. Your marital status is nobody's business, and there is no reason that you have to tell anybody about your divorce unless you want to.
Some larger churches have special groups for divorced people. I found it hard to fit into a church after my divorce, too. Sometimes Christians aren't very Christ-like.
Take care of yourself,
Namaste

When talking to people I use to say that I'm newly single. Filling out forms, if there was a spot for divorce that is what I used. As for your church, shame on them. I hope you find a good one.

If divorced is an option I think you need to say divorced, unless you had the marriage annulled. However I don't think most things have a divorced option...just single or married.
I am sure if they questioned you about it and you explained the situation to them they would be understanding.

Once you get divorced you become single again. Now as far as job applications and such if it ask's if you are divorced then obviously you check divorce and not single, but for everything else you are single. And if your church treated you that way because you got divorced due to domestic abuse then your church is a bunch of idiot's..Maybe you should change your religion to Catholic because they don't expect you to stay in an abusive marriage..

I can't believe your church sort of kick you out, they're very supportive when it comes to marital issues, especially domestic violence unless you were not the victim in this matter. I would still talk to a Priest or someone that has more experience in the nature you are in. Good luck, wish things get better.

Hey look divorced isn't a four letter word. Don't be ashamed of anything. Hey, things happen. Especially if it's domestic violence. IYou ought to be proud of yourself that you were strong enough to have guts to stand up and not put up w/ it. There's nothing wrong with D on forms.......

I'm also divorced. Was married to an abuser, but when filling out form of any sort I always choose SINGLE. If you want to keep your awful past in the past you (we) have the right to do so. So far, choosing SINGLE has not come back and biten my but, just be careful when you choose SINGLE.
As far as your church, I think the same rules goes. You mainly want peace with the lord not your church members. Beside, why do they need to know your PAST?. All they need to know is that you want to accept the lord in your life, that your are there for the lord. And if you happen to mention your PAST to the members of the church and they begin to judge you, then they are not TRUE CHRISTIANS, therefore you need to move on.
