My first advice would be to boot into safe mode if possible. (When turning computer on press F8 repeatedly until you get a list of boot options, one should say safe mode) If you succeed in booting into safe mode, you should install a real anti-virus program, and run a full system scan. If this doesn't work, some commercial (bought at a store) AV programs come with a bootable CD that will allow you to scan the computer without booting into Windows. Although they seldom catch the newest viruses. If these options fail to solve your problem, your options are somewhat limited. Use the manufacturer's recovery function (which will wipe ALL data which you have on the system). Or there is always the option to take your computer to a computer repair shop (Geek Squad or similar) although they will most likely wipe your hard drive as well, and/or cost you a small fortune.

My computer did the samething about 15 minutes ago. I've scanned my computer twice so far and haven't found any sort of virus. I haven't downloaded anything. I recently uninstalled LimeWire because it was acting crazy but right after I uninstalled it I also removed every song file I downloaded from it and also did a complete virus scan. So I don't know why it shut down but I think everything is fine now.
All I can say is try and do a complete scan of your computer. Or re-install windows. I wish you luck.

Wow it sounds serious. If you can definitely download avast home antivius. But you need to be able to get use your operating system and get on line.Does the blue screen come up right away? or does it let you get into the operating system? You can also try and boot in safe mode (press F8 a few times right as the computer is booting up you may have to try a few times to get it because it has to be timed perfectly) Once your in safe mode try and remove the fake program. That's all I can recommend without more details.

I would suggest you use someone else's computer and visit the Symantec Security Response website (address in the source box below). You might can find information there that will help you determine what virus you downloaded. Once you know which virus it is, then Symantec should be able to give you instructions on how to remove it. If all else fails, call Geek Squad (http://www.geeksquad.com)

Download a copy of Avast ( www.avast.com ) and install it, it will ask to scan the computer after restart, this is the time when virus cant work, so it should be able to remove most if not all of them before Windows start up again.

There is only one way, system restore or system recovery. I know I got a lot of virus and one day, shut down immediately! When I turned it back on and got to the welcome screen, again! So, I tried system restore, but it shutted down when I was there too. So, just system recovery dude. Tht's the only way to get things back to normal. Trust me. It will be fast and good again. Go ahead do it. Good luck!
