Gay marriage is a HUGE issue for conservatives in this country, citing the bible as a refrence, in which it states “[Homosexuality] is detestable” (Leviticus 18:22). BUT my question is, in the very same book of the bible, God refers to something else as being "destestable": “Anything living in the water that does not have fins or scales is to be detestable to you” (Leviticus 11:12).
So one could argue, that in GOD's eyes, enjoying Unagi (freshwater eel) or octopus or shrimp, crab, lobster, is commiting the same "level" sin as a practicing homosexual.

alright i know the argument that no one is trying to stop homosexuals from having sex, just stopping legal recognition of the relationship, But my question then would be, How did sushi bars or seafood restaurants get health department approval, legal regodnition of their businesses.

on a side note I am a Christian, Often my arguement to these people is, STOP citing the bible as your purpose to "destroy the unnatural" because in

Amen I have to admit you do have a very good point. An eye for an eye. If you take one part of the bible literally than you must take all parts for literally and live by all the words of the lord. There is no Cherry picking the Bible.

OK, hon, not all conservatives think they way you think they do. I find it hypocritical as well that these supposed "christians" recite their bible verses as reasons why gays shouldn't be together but yet they miss or dismiss or rationalize the passages about incest, slavery and a host of other vile things that are condoned in a book that IS God's word but wasn't dictated verbatim to the people who wrote it.

Yes, homosexuality is strange to me but I fail to see how a union between two effects me in anyway. I am also a Christian, by the way.

What in the world Sushi and Rights of individuals against Discrimination? Senator Biden said it well today on TV. That is the argument used against unions other than M/F. There are references in that Bible about such stuff. I can't quote them.
Religion nor politicians should dictate or encourage prejudice. I liked the Senator's point. I can not figure out yours. Thanks for letting me give my 2pt opinion.

Christians believe that Jesus came to overcome the old laws, but then they only apply that to the laws around kosher food and how to dress, not the one law about homosexuality. People like the moral majority believe you can pick and choose which laws to follow.

Moral Majority? How many of them would you think might be closet sea food fans? They pick and choose what laws they want to follow when it suits them.
