Barak Obama is the first Black man to run on something other than his color........ or do you mean to say we should Affirmative Action the oval office? We haven't had a woman yet either. Nor have we had a Jew. Only one Catholic, no proclaimed Athiests................
oh oh, AND it is widely accepted that Roosevelt wouldn't have been president if we had had TV's back then, because "Americans don't vote for a man in a wheelchair".

Hello?
Hi, people, I no this is off topic, Al Sharpton, is not the leader of African Americans.
Al Sharpton is a bigot, he still hasn't apologized to the Duke boys after saying the rape was surrounded by racism.
Hello, there was no rape!!!
And he still hasn't apologized.
African Americans u need to stand up and tell Sharpton he's no leader of yours

O, and everything matters, like I would vote for someone Catholic because I feel they would best represent my concerns in office
But color and gender doesn't matter to ME, although I guess it does to u.
I would vote for anybody who I think has the right stand on the right issues, and isn't afraid to cease with politics and bureaucratic stuffed shirts regardless of what party they're in Republican or Democrat

My guess would be the voters VOTED for white Presidents. If a black Presidential candidate ever ran for office - and won - I'm sure (s)he'd continue to be black. All the voters have to do is vote for someone of color...and that's pretty much the "intelligence" of it! -RKO- 04/29/07

Race has mattered a great deal over our history, such that it would have been very rare for a nonwhite person to be in a position to be president. Same with women.

If religion doesn't matter why are all Presidents Christian? That is something to think about.

Race matters a great deal. Anyone who says that it does not matter is either expressing their ideals or in denial.
