Check the fluid level in the transmission when it's really hot and with the engine idling. However, I'm not sure if you have a transmission dipstick on your car. If you haven't had your transmission serviced, take it in and have them remove the pan so that they can see what type of debris might be in the pan when they change the transmission oil and filter.

I will assume you have an automatic transmission! If so, you must be extremely low on Transmission Fluid! This is usually checked while the car is running, in PARK, with EMERGENCY BRAKE ON! Not for the timid or the inexperienced. If fluid is low, you must use the correct type for your car. Check owners manual or under the hood, there is usually a sticker on the radiator area telling you type of fluids, engine size, etc.! If fluid checks OK, it is most likely time for transmission service or rebuild. Suggest someone like AAMCO!
Good Luck!!!!

i own a repair shop and you need to check the transmission fluid in it,this will cause it to do that, also if the filter and fluid is getting real dirty on it that will cause it also, and the only other thing it can be is the transmission its self may be getting ready to go out on it,that s usually how they do when they are going out, reverse is usually the first gear you loose in them hopefully yours will just need some fluid added to it,good luck hope this helps.

What when you are revving it up, and it kicks into gear and runs over a kid on a tricycle? If it was my car, I would want that tranny out of there. No band-aids for me, thank-you.
