The HitchHiker's Guide to the galaxy lists the best drink in the universe as being the Pan Galactic Garble Blaster since its effect “is like having your brain smashed up by a slice of lemon wrapped around a large gold brick” -- I guess some must like it that way.
The best non alcoholic drink should be water since this is what we are supposed to be 75% composed of; but I personally favor some brand of root beers, which are unfortunately near impossible to find anymore (Coca Cola has terminated that brand, in favor of Barq's which contains caffeine, which I do not like). And that is because I like it best.
But that is only my personal tatse; it is essentially subjective.

For beer, Cave Creek hot pepper beer is great (addictive!)
For wine, a (hard to find) German dry red, served coffee hot with a sugared rim.
non-alc is a cold water on a hot day or some sun brewed tea
As for why, all is just personal taste, but having been in Kuwait/ Iraq a few years ago, I learned to really enjoy water and how very different each brand tasted, I could pick them out blindfolded. It's all mineral content.
As for the universe? we are still a bit limited there, but I would bet there will be other things to try in the future.

coca cola, and a cool soda i had last week, is called COLOMBIANA, is, i suppose, a soda from Colombia, is a little hard to find, but if you have a Colombian friend ask him because is totally worth it... the flavor is way out there

well I'm quite fond of romulan ales (no really I found a recipe and they are tasty) because they are blue and tingly and fun at star parties. As for non alcoholic drinks I would have to say a nice cold old fashioned lemonade
