Mostly because we are forced to tolerate evil. A few centuries ago if someone traded slaves we (western states) would go there and free the enslaved people. Nowadays we are told that "cultural sensitivity" requires us not to see such behaviour as evil.
Same goes for mass murderers acting under the cover of religion (islam mostly, but also hindus and communists/maoists) (yes, I know that communism/maoism is not officially a religion but they behave as if it were)

The world is in a mess because the good people do nothing. Or not enough. And those who do are condemned by self-styled "liberals"

This is what i was thinking in the evening.....I think it starts right from the indiviual level......we people are least bothered about each other now .....even two brothers can not see each other going up.......then same goes with the society......and when such societies combinely chose such leader, then this indiviual charachtirstic becomes the General feature of the nation..and such nation combinely mess up with this world !! we are wrong and we let the wrong people to run this world.....and now its a vicious cycle........each wrongdoing give birth to another wrongdoing......and i don't know for how long would it continue....becuase now i feel sometimes it is running in our genes...... !but i still have a "hope"!

Straight away the people who have posted on this get to blaming everyone else. We ALL have played a part in this world getting to the stage it is now. We all can make a difference but we choose not to because its easier to blame everyone else and point the finger at the next man. If anyone wants to know why this world is such a mess it's simple.. Look in the mirror. We are creatures of habit and have a knack for ******* **** up in the most catastrophic way possible. Every journey starts with the smallest step, which I this case is me and you.

That statement could be made a various junctures over the last 4000 years years or so. It's the nature of mankind. Their have been plenty of times when things were a lot worse than they are now.

Because of the human condition. We are mere mortals who think of ourselves as gods. Thus, we covet wealth, crave power, and exercise control to achieve those ends. We build pyramids or other monuments to ourselves when we die. We squander $100 on a sushi dinner at a five-star restaurant just because "we can". We drive $60,000 gas-guzzling SUVs just because we can afford them. We do nothing to improve the lot of the world, only ourselves. Our hubris is exhaustive, our flaws are easy to cover up. We (especially those in positions of wealth or power) honestly believe we are better than the poor black child living in the ghetto, the starving, raped native displaced young girl in Darfur, the chronic alcoholic mother in America, or the guy down the street who can't afford anything better than his 13-year-old Ford Taurus. We are a shameful society, intent only on our own pleasure and convenience without regard for the rest of the humanity, the world's plants of animals - all of whom were obviously put on this planet for a purpose, just as we were. We destroy rain forests; pollute our air and waters; allow other species to become extinct or endangered; refuse to recycle, re-use or reduce our own waste; ignore the impact of the depletion of the ozone layer or global warming simply because not to do so would require some sacrifice on our part; allow corrupt politicians to continue stealing money from us and calling it "taxation'; waste precious natural resources without concern as to how it may affect our grandchildren or great-children's lives; live by loose moral standards because it's more pleasurable and less demanding; honor and praise million-dollar sports celebrities, movie stars, and others who squander their money on themselves instead of giving it all away to the needy; poison our lawns with pesticides and chemicals just so we can have greener grass than our neighbor; lavish ourselves with junk we don't need just because WalMart has 'low prices -everyday'; condone the killing of thousands of Iraqis and 3,300 U.S. soldiers just because an idiot President says it has to happen; don't give a tinker's damn about the poor ghetto child who went to bed hungry last night; think only about ourselves and our immediate families without any regard for the sick, the hungry, the homeless, the indigent, the aged, the underprivileged, or the disadvantaged in our world; listen to hate-filled radio 'talk' from cretins like Rush Limbaugh and Howard Stern and think it's okay for them to verbally defecate on their political opponents or demean women as nothing more than sex objects, just for 'laughs'; live in a world where "justice" is served best when you can afford a "good" lawyer; or turn the other way when a crime is committed because we "don't want to get involved". THAT'S WHY OUR WORLD IS SUCH A MESS. -RKO-

Since the beginning of time man has looked for new ways to do wrong. Until that stops, things will continue to get worse. You have to make a personal choice to do good. Other people's actions are not very often your responsibility, but yours always are. Do good, it will catch on!

Because so many people are so insecure. If these people learned how to play blues based rock music on guitar, like Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones, they would become peaceful, chilled-out, compassionate people and would stop caring about what other people thought of them.

Because humans are sometimes greedy and cruel to each other. They want to take over the world and everyone in it. If they can control others they will. I think it is totally sad and pathetic. People think killing is the answer to everything.

Religion has a lot to do with it...if people heeded the basic tenants of their individual faith's and stopped trying to force it on others, maybe the world would improve...Instead everyone's trying to force their beliefs on others and i don't see it changing anytime soon

Humans....We have the power of choice but we never chose what is right. This is even when the evidence is right in front of us.
