I'm planning on trying to make a checkered shirt in the style of the hoodie seen here

and, needless to say, it should prove to be a bit of a challenge. My plan of attack is to somehow procure a large number of uniformly sized, square pieces of tape, which I will affix to the shirt in a checkerboard fashion. Then, I will proceed to spray paint the whole mofo black and take the tape off afterwards.

I was just wondering if:

A: Anyone has a better idea of how to do this

and if not

B: Where I could get a buncha pieces of tape like that, or will I have to use a paper cutter and card stock and then tape each individual square down...

Well, after lightening the picture enough to actually see something, I really have to question your taste. I would think it would be easier to buy the fabric and sew it up. Doing what you suggest will be very difficult to do evenly, paint will leak under the tape and applying tape to cloth is difficult. And the painted fabric will be stiff.
