i have two little dwarf hamsters and one of them was quite mean when i first got him. what i would do is...
1. hold him every day, hamsters do not stay tame you have to hold them ALOT,
2. be gentile and make shure he sees you before you pick him up, if he bites you then do not jump or drop the poor hamster, just hold him gentely still
3. another way is to put a treat in your hand and wait for him to come to your hand, hunger always over comes fear!

Some how the hampster has been hurt when someone has picked him up. This is what I do to a mean hamster. I buy a pr of leather gloves. Rub them in his poop to get the scent on them. Pick him up with the gloves and feed him a treat. Do this for a week. After a week take off one glove after picking him up. (make sure you wash your hands well) the scent on your hands could bother him. Feed him a treat with your bear hand.
I hope this works for you.

sometimes thats how they are what kind is it? The syrians are easier to handle than the smaller ones. Try getting it an exercise ball to run in, put it near the exit of cage so u don't have to handle it right away. if it dosn't get better get brid of it.

handle him daily.
if he bites you, don't take him out of the cage, put a glove that he can't bite through on and put your hand in there. pet him or give him treats then take your hand out. do this regularly until he stops trying to bite. once he stops trying to bite you, do the same thing, but without the glove. if you can do this over a period of time without him biting, then you can start taking him out of the cage.
