Why do people living in high altitudes more vulnerable to the suns ultraviolet rays?

As the above answer pointed out, the atmosphere up here is a lot thinner than at sea level and so blocks less of the light. You generally have a much better view of the stars at night as well.

The air is thinner, so more rays get through.
