Because they really don't know what to do?

I believe this Bush administration is impotent, and doesn't have a CLUE as to what to do. You will see a MilqueToast Republican effort in the next federal election, because they have lost their 'fight'. They don't want to deal with it anymore, and they know the public is almost unanimously against this unconstitutional, illegal 'war'.
The Democratic Party will be left with the remnants of a failed effort while Republican-favored suppliers (such as the Carlyle Group and Halliburton) will quietly go away with BILLIONS of dollars in profit in their pockets. The giant U.S. military-industrial complex will see its sagging profits boosted (for companies like Lockheed-Martin; GM; McDonnell-Douglass; Sikorsky; and many others whose war profiteering was once again obscenely unjustifiable).
Shortly after Bush leaves office, the United States will suffer the most severe economic depression since 1929 (and the Republicans will blame it on the Democrat who is in office). The failed Bush war policies, and his reckless economic policies, will combine to degenerate the U.S. military and economy. Taxpayers will be paying off Bush's TRILLION-DOLLAR debt for generations to come, and we will see China take over as the world's super power and global leader. The U.S.A. will fall into disrepair; morale will crumble; the 'middle class' will all but be obliterated; and the Democratic leadership will be as impotent as the Republican leadership in trying to fix things. The Bush administration has been filled with scandals, atrocities, lies, distortions, fabrications, arrogance, stubbornness, corruption, waste and fraud. It's time for the Republicans to 'take a breather' and let the Democrats screw things up for a while. Then, the GOP will rise again in (maybe) eight years. Meanwhile, this nation will suffer from continued poor leadership, crumbling infrastructures, lower education standards, sloth, greed, and hubris. Like the Greek and Roman empires before us, the U.S. will become a symbol of its glorious past - and the future generations (our grandchildren and great-grandchildren) will wonder WHY we squandered their future so that they are forced to live in squalor. -RKO- 04/29/07

No, I don't thik they are deliberately drawing it out. I do think that they underestimated the assets that would be required to accomplis the "under defined" goal.

The Bush administration didn't do it's homework! The didn't realize that the U.S. population would be smart enough to dig out the lies and mis-directions used to "justify" this action. They didn't know that it woud be almost impossible to force a fom of government onto a people who has no use for tat form of government. They look ito history to see what the real situation in Iraq was.

In short, the Bush administraion rushed into a task that was ill conceived, with a criminal lack of knowledge.

i do under no circumstances keep in mind human beings asserting he became in contact with 9/11, I do in spite of the undeniable fact that keep in mind it being pronounced that he gave the households of suicide bombers funds after the bomber had completed the deed. the different "lies" have been in step with intel that the entir international had. I ask you this because of the fact i haven't heard it asked in the past yet i think of it needs to be asked to clean issues up somewhat; If Bush is so stupid, how is it he became in a position to cajole Congress, the united kingdom Parliment, Spanish leaders, and countess others that Saddam became pursuing WMDs? How ought to a stupid guy like Bush do all of the failings you declare he has completed? In my honest opinion you may might desire to be a genious to pull all of this off, however the left retains claiming he's stupid between different issues

Bingo. Bush has made a horrible mess out of Iraq, and we already know he's too incompetent to fix it. The next President will spend their first year cleaning up his mess, that's for sure. That's why I'm voting for the person who has the best plan for Iraq, and that's Hillary Clinton.

I predict that after Bush vetoes the war funding bill, his veto will be overriden by Congress. Politicians never say what they really intend doing, and some Repubican senators know what will happen to them in '08 if they oppose the will of the people.

Without a doubt. They went into this war without doing their homework. And were arrogant enough to think they could change things in a country that has been in-fighting for centuries. There is no way out.

In one of his press conferences, that's fairly much what President Bush alluded to.

What he started would not be finished during his administration.

Sounds like a cop out to me.

No, I don't believe that at all. I do not expect that Iraq will be stabilized before Bush leaves office but not due to inaction.

Of course because it is making him so popular. No the president is following the course suggested by his military advisers to try to stabilize the country so the next presidents will not have to go in again.
