Avatars are kind of impersonal and generic. I pay most attention to an icon with an interesting photo. And, yes, if it's a particularly attractive one, I may pay more attention to the question than I might otherwise. Wish I could come up with something more interesting than my avatar.

Not really. I usually don't even pay attention to them unless the guy looks hot. But then again, you know most of them are false advertising. :)
