Perfect you got it right, poor umpiring is taken the charm out of the game, got to use the technology to make the game fair,
players have to be called back by third umpires and umpires to be sacked for such decisions,Bad decisions can kill this game before that wake up ICC and save cricket from further embarrassment,
make the umpires responsible, accountable and teach them a lesson.

I think its a part of the game to get unlucky decisions if you deem them unlucky! You live with it. It makes the game interesting and controversial!! The Srilankans are not the only ones who have had such a thing happen. Southafrica in 1992 needed 22 runs from one ball to win. In 1996, The South Africans won all games but the quarter final in a ridiculuous qualifying system and then in 2003 they got their math wrong in a D/L game against SL. Umpires are human, players are human and its just another game. The question was if Srilanka put up a fight? They did. Did Australia feel challenged? May be a wee bit...But seriously, nobody can stop this maruading team of Australians. Only NZL look like they can match the Australians but they lack confidence. The Aussies are playing an unique brand of power cricket where they "typhoon" the opposition out of a game. India, SL,Pakistan will have to beef up their muscle power and spend more time on their fitness. Well actually Australia deserved to win this world cup. They won all their qualifyinf games. This is something amazing!

mahela and Russel were given worst decissions
umpire sare humans
australia can afford big money to shut mouths
when money talks asstralia walks away with the Cup
I think when "Gill" drank some fluids which
brought by Autralian reserved player,
might have given him this power hitting ability
Gichrist did illegal thing
me think when "Gilcriss drank some fluids which
brought by Autralian reserved player,
might have given him this big hitting power
Law 3 (6) (c) (i) specifically prohibits a player from using equipment other than that permitted. And nowhere in cricket’s 42 laws is there a mention of a squash ball as a permitted item.
sri lanka could have won under better circustances,
if it was a 50 over match
if the weather was better.
this was the only match in the world cup it wasnt 50 overs. they should have postponed it for the next day or a day the weather was good.
Ultimately....rain & light chaos prevented
Sri Lanka from winning the World cup 2007
still some fans demand srilakns
shut their mouth about this UNJUST....
At least these fans ~criss and ~sord rox and lara king~
doing something against this ~disgusting unjust
thanx again guys
we dont worship Kangaroos
we worship .. only god

As I read the answers to this question, I feel ashamed that there are "cricket loving fans" who are so biased that they cannot see anything other than their team. If Australia had lost, I would have been deeply hurt, but, whatever the circumstances, I also would have applauded the winning team. THIS IS CALLED SPORTSMANSHIP. If the umpiring was so bad, why don't you whingers get off your backsides and become one? I know you won't because all you'll ever do is belittle and cast aspersions on officials, umpires and players whilst hiding behind the mask of anonymity. All teams got some bad decisions, but if you analyze ALL the decisions, you would find the umpires were correct 99.9% of the time. How many of your decision were right before you saw replays? I bet there was very few. I think you some of you should take a cold shower to cool off.

I'm a Sri Lankan and I was rooting for our guys all the way, but the fact remains that Gilchrist was on fire, and we allowed them to get a total which shouldn't be attainable even in a 50-over match. Our batsmen fought valiantly and we should be proud of them for how far they got. We should also be proud that the Sri Lankan team has been marked as one of the most sporting teams of the tournament, and many non-Sri Lankans were cheering for them as well. When all is said and done, Australia played the better game that day, but our guys did the country proud.

My idea is for you to stop smoking crack and watch the same game as everyone else.
That LBW was not good, but the last few games were filled with bad decission.
Sangakkara, is a champion. When he dropped that catch and told the umpire directly I was so proud for him. And Jayawardana, your decission to keep the team batting in the dark, just so spectators could see the game end was noble.
Cricket needs more people like you.
Sri Lanka you played great and would have beaten anýone else. Be proud of yourselves.

Let us admit the fact that Sri Lankan Bowlers failed miserably to contain Australian Opening Batsmen and allowed them to pile up huge opening partnership, which enabled Australia to post hugh total. It was not at all easy to chase such a huge target at an asking rate of over 7 runs from the word go. Though Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara batted brilliantly and gave a hope that Sri Lanka will achieve the target. However, after their departure, the match slipped out of Sri Lanka's grips. I feel that it is unfair to blame the umpiring for the loss of Sri Lanka.

yes most Umpires these days seems supporting to Australia
and try to eliminate Asian teams.
Any dum -dum could see it .
*** !983-Kapil dev -won(India)
1992-pakistan won
1996-Sri lanka won
since 1992 Asian teams Qualified to Finals with Australia
2007 is the time who gave a biggest fight Aus and
It was Sri Lankans
and the final was didiculous .
2 worst decitions of worl cup finals given against sri lanka.
ICC could have called off the saturday match ,
because it was marred by constant arain ,bad weather
& bad light.
Instead when Australia got Advantage of the "ToSS"
& the start, everybody wanted to continue it ,
in order to make Australia "any how" the Winners.
they knew if they used the reserved day ,the Sunday
the toss & luck would have gone Sri lankans way.
They simply did not want to RISK it.
the money power & umpires always helped them to
your so called "Dominance"
Asians are the best
Even Bangladeshis beaten Bragging Ponting.
Everybody knows this truth .
but they dont want tell it ,
One of the reasons are, if they do ....
some of the "Australia backing-answerers "
use "bad words' to reply .
some Australian suporters always prefer worst
way possible to answer to the Secret of their
"Bribed -success"
other countries dont want to win by these unscrupulous means.
