Synchronize watches.... Your drummer and rhythm G. are the key players here as everyone else relies on them for the pulse. If your drummer knocks at the door and the knock slows down, as hard as it is, fire him/her. Just as your bass player is the foundation for pitch, your drummer needs to be solid. Metronomes are fine as long as none of your music has a rit or accelerando. Keep practising....

It's really up to your drummer.
Have him use a click track through a pair of head phones and follow him faithfully.
Also, practice, practice, practice!

well you can ask everyone to sit down and practice at home where its quiet and they tap their feet, or you can simply ask your drummer to use more timekeeping beats with less fills, if there are complaints about this, remember its for the good of the whole, not the good of the one.

Get a good drummer. Seriously, nothing "beats" a good drummer/percussionist.

I used to find it easier to follow the Bass Player (providing he didn't think he was bass guitar's answer to Eric Clapton)
