Look, I don't know what your problem with your VCR is. I can tell you a couple of things that can help you.
1. Either get a combination vcr/dvd player.
2. Get Tivo and forget buying the dvr or vcr or dvd.
3. No one repairs small appliances anymore. They are extremely cheap.
If the problem was the vcr eating your tapes, forget about it, it just happened to me and I ditched it. They're cheaper to replace than to repair.
Now, I gave you an answer, go get some sales papers and see what's out there.

Just be a little patient. You are wanting someone that can maybe help you repair your VCR... right?? Well, maybe that someone just hasn't saw your question yet, or maybe even no one wants to give you the wrong answer. You may want to consider taking it to a professional and let them fix it for you, or even just going out and buying a new one.... they are only a dime a dozen now.

It costs less to get a new one than it does to fix a bad one. I learned that the hard way with my Alpine CD player that I paid big bucks for a few years ago. Now I get the extended warranty for my stuff that I think will go bad.

Ok here goes throw it away and get a new one that is what I did when mine would eat the tapes. It is more expensive to repair then replace. Wal mart has good deals on them I bought my new Sony one there.
