Many security experts will tell you that "Real Player", contains spyware. This is 100% true as I use an antivirus program that is not free and used by the Govt. of China.

My antivirus program from http://www.filseclab.com (Beijing, China). will not allow me to download "Real Player", being the antivirus finds a keylogger that my software traced back to the United States Army Intelligence, London, England.

My antivirus destroyed the file. For the hell of it I turned off my antivirus and reinstalled "Real Player". Before completing the installation I removed the keylogger file. "Real Player", gave me a quick pop-up saying, "you have removed a file and the program will not install until you replace the file".

Obvious I halted the installation.

As for harming your pc no.

I'll just second the suggestion about the VLC Media Player that a previous answerer mentioned. It works extremely well. It's available for download at the below listed site.

Does not harm. But makes the system slow because very heavy. Also puts itself and RealSched.exe in startup using Internet Connection.

My WinPatrol (Scotty) is angry because RealPlayer keeps adding to Startup every two minutes. I prefer RealAlternative nowadays.

In most cases no.But it really depends on the source from which you download. When you download from its original website we can say it as 100% safe.

No, but Real Player sucks. Its filled with ads and useless crap that just slows down your computer, even though it may not be malicious.
