My friend is always stating he is displeased with his life and seems to make depressed comments that can be taken as funny jokes.

Example: His parents told him to get a job and stated how his cousin works at the cemetery cutting the lawn. My friend responds, “Work there? I want to live there!”

Anyway, I’m on the phone with him late (2:00am) the other night. He says, “listen to this” – he then starts screaming, “HELP!” as loud as he can. Now mind you his parents are fast asleep in the next room, as they need to be at work in a few hours. They are awakened by these screams for ‘help’ and I can hear them rush in and state, “What’s wrong?” My friend then proceeds to tell them “My life sucks!” They are in complete disgust and tell him “go back to bed you a$$hole”.

Is he just trying to be funny and upset his parents or is there more to these depressing comments he makes?

If you’re wondering, we are 19 years old.

He would want help, however the stunt you describe is particularly like the Boy Who Cried Wolf. No ask your self his mothers and dads respond that way. i'm gonna take a huge gamble that wasn't the 1st time he's pulled that stunt. this is not any longer basic to get actual help, in case you keep yanking human beings's chains like that. a peaceful severe communicate is what he desires to do, to ask for help. i'm suggesting that for this occasion, simply by fact he has already ruined his attractiveness for "crying" for help. If his kin does not have faith him or respond subsequently, then he desires to trot his unhappy azz right down to the dep. of Public wellness. The loose sanatorium will deliver him someplace for help on the tax payers dollar. It won't value him something, nor his mothers and dads. If he's judged available to himself, suicidal, then they are going to placed him some place secure, and supply him counselling, and doubtless loose meds. If he's purely phuqing with anybody, for interest, then there is not any longer something you're able to do rather. he's getting a kick out of it, and could no longer end.

The boy that called wolf...
One day he may regret it..he needs to grow up find something constructive to do and lean to respect people.
Funny can be funny but if your timing is off it falls flat..maybe he can become a comedian.

Maybe he od'ed on ativan. It makes you start calling people and being all nuts and stuff. It's impossible to kill yourself with that stuff unless you get rid of your phone.
