I would like to hear of both Jewish and non-Jewish opinions about Kosher.
I've read some articles saying that Kosher is a big rip off. I find that rude to say about someone's religion.
What are you're opinions?

Also, what do you think of not being able to eat meats and dairy together, or using the same utensils.
That means, you cannot cook meats with butter or any other dairy source, nor can you have a dessert right after your meal. You'd have to wait numerous hours until having a bowl of ice cream.
Is that silly to you?

No, I don't find it silly, as it's one of Hashem's commandments.

The laws of kashrut regarding meat and dairy are not just about buying seperate dishes and ritual cleaning, they are also spiritual. The seperation of death (meat/blood) and life (milk/dairy) is a common theme throughout the Torah.

Btw, there are plenty of desserts which are pareve (neither meat or dairy) which can be eaten after any meal. How about a frozen fruit smoothie instead of ice cream? I also use olive oil for most of my cooking which is also pareve and healthier than butter.

The way the animals are raised and slaughtered and produced is much better than the conventional way. The meat is much healthier because it doesn't have the growth hormones and the animal isn't fed a bunch of garbage.
As far as the other practices, there's probably a good reason not to have meat and dairy together. Maybe they know something about digestion and internal health that we don't.

I am not Jewish but, I do know that, a Kosher diet is just better for your body! As a kid, I had bad allergies & the Dr. suggested I eat Kosher. I have to tell you, I felt like a whole new person! hmmm, thanks for the question..I may have to go back to that!
