For me:
Favs:
1. Texas: the friendliest people I've ever met, very clean, great weather (mostly), diversity in geography, abounding arts opportunities, the MOST beautiful women, NOT a redneck state like so many make it out to be.
2. Oklahoma: almost everybody I've ever met from OK have been very nice like Texans. OKC is an up and coming metro area. A beautiful state, also.
3. Georgia: ATL is boomin' and hoppin'. Great city, beautiful neighborhoods, friendly local natives, the North Ga. mountains are awe-inspiring, incredibly good lookin' women.

Least favs:
1. Florida: run-down, crime-ridden, dirty, and, away from the coasts, it's pretty boring. The NY/NJ/PA/OH yankee transplants are quite grouchy, too.
2. Kentucky: Redneck culture reigns supreme, very little in arts and culture, very rude/uninviting natives (especially Louisville and East KY) with bad attitudes, most of women are ugly, very littered, boring.
3. Virginia: The halfbacks and boring NOVA...'nuff said.

NYKOOL is a snob apparently...
Least fav states...
1...I live in Texas and although it is popular with a lot of folks either born here or moved here, I personally have always hated it because of the heat most of the year...
I have fair burn-type skin and can't be outside more than 30 minutes in Spring and Summer...
So while lounging by the pool is so nice, I can't do that either...
I get bad headaches in the heat and nearly pass out...
I mostly stay inside where there is air conditioning...
I also hate my own state of Texas cause it is so big and it takes all day litterally to drive out of it and get anywhere different...
I happen to be in the middle of the state and it takes 10 hours of driving in any direction to get to the border...
You are so tired by days end, you wish you didn't go...

2...I also dislike Oklahoma for the same heat-related reasons...
Oklahoma is dry and dusty and flat land with absolutely nothing to see...

3...I also dislike Arizona for the same heat related reasons and the flat land...

I never dislike a state because of the people, because you can't judge a state by the people...
They are always going to be different and probably from some other place and not native...

Favorite states...
1...States I do like are New Mexico because of the mountains and culture...
Lots to see and do there...

2...I like Arkansas because of the woods and lakes and scenery and the Ozarks...
So peaceful there...

3...I like Missouri because I went to college there in Columbia and made a lot of friends, saw mountains, rivers, lakes, and had lovely drives in the country..
I have fond memories of that state...

Will someone please tell me what the Mason Dixon line is and where it is located...
I assume it is the line that divides the Yankees from the Rebels or Dixies???

I don't know that it means much but I wish this poll was about favorite states in general or least favorite states in general...
Why was it pinned down to southern only?
That's not fair...
I happen to love a lot of Northern states...

Arkansas is still the Diamond of the South....
But I also enjoy Mississippi...Oklahoma, Texas...
About the only place in the South that I cant stand is Shelby County Tennessee....Germantown is the rudest, overpriced,
overcrowded place there is......I cringe when I see a Shelby County license plate on I 40.....

All of the Southern States are my favorite. Even though the South lost the War between the States.

i would not put texas at the top of my list, plus i consider that a southwest or midwest state. Arkansas would have to be at the top because i live here. next is Georgia..then
Florida, Tennessee. the ones i'm not fond of are Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. I don't really go to any of the other states you mentioned.
Georgia has awesome coastline, Atlanta, Savannah. Florida because of obvious reasons. tenn. is nice and clean. all of the deep south is an armpit. Ala, MS, and LA all suck for the most part, especially Alabama.

North Carolina was very laid back when I was there in October '87. The food was incredible, the scenery was okay. People were very hospitable. I liked the weather, too

I don't dislike any southern states.

I really have no favorite southern state. There is just no reason for them to exist as far as I am concerned. Anything North of the Mason/Dixon Line gets my vote. Least favorites are any southern state. New York City Rules - anything else is just else.
