To the rest of the world, Scotland's freedom will mean that the last vestiges of the British empire are collapsing. Will be a day of joy and pride when you are at last a nation once again. We are behind you 100 percent.

It may not mean much to the rest of the world, but it will validate the fact that Scotland was forcibly conquered by England and has a right to be a nation again. How many ties with England will be kept depends upon the Scots. A postal and customs union, keeping a unified military and some other things would probably be beneficial for both.
As one whose paternal line is English and having a Scottish many-times great grandmother, after both families had left the Isles, I see benefits to union and independence.

The 2007 Scottish Parliament election is the third general election to the devolved Scottish Parliament since it was created in 1999. Polling will take place on Thursday May 3. The election falls two days after the tricentenary of the Act of Union that politically united Scotland and England. Local elections in Scotland fall on the same day.
The main issues being focused on during the campaign trail are: healthcare, education, council tax reform, pensions, the Union, and more powers for the Scottish Parliament. Some parties are planning to raise the school leaving age from 16 to 18 and raising the minimum age to purchase tobacco products from 16 to 18.
The three political leaders who aspire to run the country - Alex Salmond, Jack McConnell and Nicol Stephen - will this weekend be tossing around in their minds a host of different decisions which they may be called upon to make come next weekend: if I get this number of seats, and he gets that number, and he gets that number, then should I do this? Or this? Or this? All is about to be played out next weekend. To go back to Churchill, this week doesn't mark the beginning of the end. It's just the end of the beginning.

I hope it is when and not if, for Scotlands independance.
You can then look forward to tuition fees for university students, care for the elderly that is no longer free and all the other, ubiquitous charges, that the celebrated Scotsman, Brown, has heaped upon the English.
If you are really fortunate, you could finish up with Brown as your Chancellor and Blair, (Another Scot)
as your Prime Minister.
I wish you well with your search for independance and look forward to cheap holidays in Scotland once you are using the Euro.

Presumably, the Scots will cherry pick - all of Scotland will be a Republic with the exception of Gartscadden and Easterhouse, who will be given exile status and not included in the Scottish State.
