No, this is not a profession you can pursue. All elements were originally formed by some process (the Big Bang), so I imagine gold can be created. But such a procedure would probably involve conditions that would literally tear the earth apart if reproduced. The energy expenditure would have to be enormous, and the gravitational field associated with it would have serious repurcussions for the solar system, if not the entire universe.

Unlike other metals, gold does not degrade or corrode. It can be broken down by a nuclear reaction, but since it isn't composed of different elements I don't know what it would break down into. You'd have to talk to a chemist or physicist about that one. I doubt there's a way to reverse the process once it happens.

A bit of a segue: It appears to me, at times, that many of the folks on the forum look at alchemy with only contemporary eyes. One of the more important elements of metallurgy or chemistry of any kind, is electricity. The era when Alchemy was a top science did not have electricity to use in experiments. If you were to become a metallurgist or chemist you would be using some methodology developed by Alchemists, but you would have electricity as a tool.

because different youngsters opt to get a job. the college doesnt have time for alchemy extremely because it really is a mixture of fantasy and chemistry and they already coach chemistry in a extra unique element without faith or mythology that clealy doesnt exist. in case you've self belief it does then it really is your existence. besides the indisputable fact that alchemy isn't a topic in college for this reason there are not any jobs to get for someone who studied alchemy.

Yes you can be a alchemist. In a symbolical sense.
But it is not exactly what you think it is. An alchemist is a person in pursuit of something seemingly impossible. We all do it in some ways (your job, family, etc). An alchemist uses this to his advantage.

I don't think so. It would have to be a chemical reaction, and scientifically I don't think there are chemical reactions that turn an element into another element. It was never successfully done, and throughout history people spent their lives trying. The only "successful" instance turned out later to be a fake.
