Since you are looking into this for companionship for your turtle, don't get anything else. Turtles are not social creatures by nature and only tolerate other turtles in their tanks. They only time in nature that they come together is to breed and if their food's in the same place. You have to realize the size that these turtles get up to, which many people don't. Male's will be 8-9 inches in diameter and females will be 12 inches in diameter (the size of a dinner plate). A rule of thumb for their homes is 10 gallons of water per square inch of shell and following this leads to females alone, only one female would require 120 gallons of swimming water alone, not including basking areas (for a 180 gallon tank I paid $700 for my female, as an idea of cost of housing). In order to comfortably and correctly house two together, you will need about a 250 gallon aquarium. This is something to really think about when considering two of these magnificant creatures. If you're still gun ho on this, maps, painteds, yellow bellied sliders and red eared sliders would be alright to house together if they are both still babys. Any older and you run into dominance problems, fighting, and even death. As you've already had one turtle die, you really need to research your species and make sure the proper care is being provided. Turtles are fairly hardy animals and it's been my experience that they are hard to kill (I've seen them in horrible conditions). This would be a big, long decision to make (also keeping in mind that if proper care is provided these turtles will live 30 years plus) so think about it long and hard and ask your parents (sorry but you seem like a pre-teen who really is uninformed). Good luck.

Just get another baby red eared slider, theres not really anything else you can put with it.

Oh, and if you arnt to squeemish, you can feed them tadpoles. I had 3 baby turtles, and i would feed them a few a day for a treat. They really loved them

Assuming the tank is big enough and the habitat is well set-up, then the best companion for a Red-ear is another Red-ear.

another one... on the pond thing... just make sure there's no way they can get out. a foot high wooden wall should work well... or it can be shorter if you put another piece of wood across the top so there's an overhang.

another red-eared slider would work perfectly, BTW don't ever let it swim in your pond if you have one, mine ran away

Similar sized map, painted, cooter, etc.
Baby turtles are tricky. Please study upon them.
