Marijuana OR Alcohol

Which one should be legal and why? What are your views?
I believe marijuana was a natural plant given by God. It calms you and relaxes you after a hard day at work. No different that a beer or glass of whatever after work. Alcohol is so much more dangerous to the body and mind and hell even life. It impairs you way more than pot. I don't see how alcohol is legal yet pot insn't. I think some things really need to be looked over and changed here in this little segment of the law.

Okay, I do agree with some of your points. 1st, yes marijuana is a natural plant. In it's natural state, it calms, relaxes, relieves pain, and gives an appetite to people who many diseases that can take away their ability to eat/keep anything down. In it's NATURAL state. However, there are so many chemicals that have been/are added to marijuana these days, that is extremely dangerous and mind altering. It kills brain cells, causes us to forget things, changes our mood for days at a time, and causes major depression. At the same time, the positive effects of medicinal marijuana on people with cancer or M.S. far outway the negatives.

Alcohol can have the same calming and relaxing effects as marijuana can, as long as it isn't consumed to the point of intoxication. Intoxicated people tend to be loud, violent, obnoxious, impulsive, and nasty. So, I do agree with you there. Not to mention all the drunk drivers who kill so many on a daily basis.

Why is one legal and not the other? Well, if we knew the answer to that, we'd be on the cover of Time, Newsweek, USA Today, Psychology today, and who knows what else!!

Having studied the affects of marijuana and alcohol's effect on the brain and seen the effects of both, here are some things to ponder.
Illegal drug use begins with consumption of alcohol, usually at a young age- say12 or up. Teens don't get enough buzz from alcohol so they move on to marijuana or enhanced marijuana.
Unless a person is an addict or drug counselor, it is not realized how drug use interacts with the brain. The more marijuana one uses, the more ease of dependency and the need for more or better highs leads to other drug use. This is documented in study after study and on patient questionnaires.
Alcohol damages the body physically, when over-consumed.
Drinking excessively during pregnancy causes fetal alcohol syndrome-if you don't mind a child with lower IQ, flattened forehead, droopy eyelids or AD/HD just to name a few of the symptoms.

Interesting question. Both have serious consequences for people's health but marijuana can cause schizophrenia which is detrimental to society, not only the individual

I am so tired of refer madness radicals. Pot does not cause schizophrenia, it enhances it. So does Alcohol. I say treat them equally as far as usage legislation goes.
