6(x-3)= 6x-18
8+ 6x -18 can be simplified to 6x - 10
8 -6x +8 can be simplified to 16- 6x
So you have 6x-10=16-6x
add 10 to both sides and you have 6x=26-6x
add 6x to both sides and you have 12x=26
26 / 12 =2 and 1/6
x= 2 and 1/6
lets see if it works
8+6(2 and 1/6 -3) =3
8- 6 x 2 and 1/6 +8=3=3
3=3

Distrubute 8+6x-18=8-6x+8
+6x +6x
8+12x-18=8+8
12x-10=16
+10 +10
12x=26
x=26/12
x=13/6 or 2.1667
