Seth has one less than twice the number of compact discs that jason does.Raoul has 53 more CD's than jason has.If seth gives jason 25,seth and jason will have the same number of CD's. How many CD's did each of the 3 boys have to begin with . plz help me

Seth had 101, Jason had 51, and Raoul had
104.

x + 25 = (2x - 1) - 25

okay.

1. S = 2J-1

2. S-25=J+25

3. S = J+50 (add 25 to both sides)

4. 2J-1 = J+50 (substitute the common value S in 1 and 3)

5. 2J = J +51 (add one to both)

6. J = 51 (subtract J from both)

The rest you can work out on your own.
