A wedge shaped piece is cut from a circular pizza. The radius of the pizza is 14 inches. If the angle of the pointed end of the pizza measure 125 degrees, what is the approximate number of inches (to the nearest hundredth) in the length of the rounded edge of the crust

ok.

360 deg corresponds to the full circumference and
125 deg corresponds to what we have to find out (x).

I.e. the ratio 360 to 2&pi·r is the same as 125 to x.

The circumference of the pizza is 2&pi·r = 2&pi·14 = 28&pi inches.

So
360/28&pi = 125/x

Cross-multiply:

360 x = 125·28&pi
x = 125·28&pi / 360

use the calculator

x = 30,54 inches

Hope this helps.

the circumference of the full pizza is 2.pi.r = 2.pi.14 = 28.pi inches

Now the angle of the wedge shaped piece is 125 degree and its arc length is given by circumference X 125/360

= 28 X 3.1416 X 125 / 360 = 30.54 inches

To work out the arc (the crust), take the formula for the circumfrence: 2 x pi x r
Now, to work out the proportion of the slice to the pizza, do 125/360
Threrfore, to work out the length of the crust: 125/360 multiplied by 2 x pi x r.

Circumference of pizza = 2 x Pi x radius = 2 x 3.142 x 14
= 87.976 inches
Proportion of that piece of pizza in relationship to the whole pizza = 125/360 = 0.347

Length of rounded edge = 0.347 x 87.976 = 30.547 inches

circumference=2*Pi*radius
=2*PI*14inches
=87.964594...for the whole pizza
125/360=.3422222 which is the precentage of the 125 degree peice because the whole pizza equals 360 degrees

87.964594*.34222222=30.54326191 inches final answer

is it thin crust or thick? stuff crust or not? these would be really helpful in solving the question. also was it peperoni or veggie pizza? do you need to know who delivered it too? if you know who the pizza is from just call them and ask them!!!
