Donatos is the best in Ohio... They have a sweet but spicy sauce and a thin crust that is pretty heavenly. Well, actually Larosa's is pretty awesome too. They have really fresh ingredients and you can get full from just a slice.
The best national pizza franchise is Papa Johns though. It is simultaneously sloppy and refined. Plus they have a garlic butter dipping sauce that is more than worth the heart attack. And their online ordering website is very user friendly, plus you get banana peppers with each pizza.

Since you say franchise I will have to say Pizza Hut. I love their stuff crust pizza.
Non franchised is California Pizza Kitchen hands down!
Simple Simon's is not in my area but they did receive a reward.

Bostons has great Pizza, as does Bertuccis Brick Oven. Althought they both serve many other dishes, so I don't know if they can be exclusively considered a Pizza Franchise.
