Lacquer is a film finish that dries rather than cure. It is based on lacquer thinner, a mixture of solvents, that is very voitile. Most lacquer dries to the touch and can be handle in about a half hour. It does not fully harden for about a week though.

The 30 minute statement is strictly for handling. Most coatings I use can be handled between 30 minutes and 4 hours but total cure is 24 hours. Humidity will also affect the cure time. The higher the humidity the longer the cure takes. Temps should be above 55 degrees also.

it NEVER fully hardens, i have tried rustoleum and duplicolor clears ( both are made by sherwin williams by the way), and even after 90 dyas i was able to peel the clear top coat off of my project. in regards to the commenter saying it is an enamel not a lacquer what makes you say that did you see the can? does the can say enamel or lacquer? if it says lacquer it is lacquer, if it were enamel it would say eneamle on the can ( i know al the ones at my local walmart do say on can lacquer, or enamel). however if you are clearing look for somethign else and if you do a little research and find the parent company is sherwin williams look for something else. i have had hit or miss results with opaques ( color) but 100% fail rate with clears from duplicolor, rustoleum and other products manufactured by sherwin williams.

It is not really a lacquer. ...but a fast dry enamel.
Depends how thick you put it on, the temperature of the painting surface and air temp and moisture content.
For waxing purposes, give it 48 hours to dry thoroughly hard.
