No one can deny the Aussies capability and they were on course to victory when rain interrupted reducing the match further.
Yet when there was a reserve day a 50 over final should have been possible.

YES!!
They were consistantly dominant throughout the ENTIRE tournament the dominat side with NO other team coming close to beating them!

Dont be a sore loser.

Sri Lanka were gone long before the light played a factor, or the second batch of rain.

If a full 50 overs had been played consider the fact that Aussie were scoring at 7.5 runs an over so that equates to well over 450 runs !!

There is NO WAY Sri Lanka are capable of chasing a 350 plus score against the Aussie bowling atttack!

So face it the FAR SUPERIOR TEAM WON...

I am not a Sri Lankan but i would say it was a heck of a final . World cup finals should not be played like that and I am sure if it was not a truncated game we would have had a better match. I don't understand why organizers were in a hurry and why there was a reserve day? As far as your question is concerned I would just say "remove the extra ordinary effort of Adam Gilchrist from Australian innings and see who played well. My commiseration to Sri Lankan team.

Once Australia posted such a huge score, the match was virtually out of reach of Sri Lanka, though when Sangakkara and Jayasuriya were at the crease it appeared that Sri Lanka may cause upset win. Let us admit the fact that Sri Lankan Bowlers failed miserably to contain ASdam Gilchrist, which helped Australia to post such a huge total. It will be practically impossible for any team to win the match to chase such a target at the average of above 7 runs per over throughout the 38 overs. B y the time time the rain came and it became dark, the match has already slipped out of the hand of Sri Lanka.

No they definettly did not. the D/L method is stupid and they should take it out. Instead of playing 38 overs they should have postponed it to sunday for a full game. this would have it a fair game. Sri Lankans had the weather against them too. It was also dark by the time the sri lankans came to play. because of the rain the balls that were supposed to be 4's also stopped in the middle. Sri Lanka should have won

Of course they deserved the win,Sri Lanka was beaten before they even got to bat, before the rain and before it got dark
Sri Lanka did well to make the finals but give credit where credit id due, the Aussies played a good game

probably,yes..but, i really wish that we could have seen a complete 50-overs each side final, even though it may have meant that i'd have to wait another 24 hours...I do like the Aussies, but wish that the Sri Lankans could have taken the cup home for the second time...

The organisers should take the blame for a truncated Final under rainy condition .
Though actually the Aussies took the game away from the SriLankans in the first 20 overs, the SriLankans too did not give up.

I agree the Aussies played well throughout, but the final was anti-climactic cause the conditions favoured one time and undermined another. Sri Lanka were unfortunate yesterday in that the forces of nature were against them, but it would have been close.

Australia played well in whole WCup and had better chance before final. The final was not fair at all.
They shoul postponed the game for next day if 50 overs can not bowled in one day.
hen you play 50 overs.. planning is different .As they did with WI in this tournament. It could not be neccesary that Aus could score 400 or else. Planning for 50 overs or reduce overs are different. Rain interruption made mess in batting .....It would be the worst final till now.
Organisers or ICC just completed the formalities to finish it.The only thing was good in Final.. Gilchrist inning.
Overall-- W-cup was flopped and worst ever.
