I'm not thick, I do know long words, it's hardly something amazing. But the thing is, will the hypochondriac become to dependant on the doctor, or the doctor get fed up of the hypochondriac, and feel used.
Hmm...

Well, it depends on the doctor and on how much they love each other...the doctor needs much patience and understanding, a touch of common sense and realism, much knowledge of human behavior...maybe then the marriage will work...

Well if the doctor agreed to the marriage, there ought to be reasons and whether the marriage would work would really depend of the reasons that both have had for marrying, being reasonable and right ones. However, a professional and his client should normally not get as close as life partners... it would carry the potential of spoiling both the professional and personal relationships!!

The doctor will likely have boundaries and send the partner and children to another doctor for health issues.

A doctor is likely educated enough to recognize the mental health issues of the hypochondriac.

That depends on how closely the doctor abides by the law. An unethical doctor would shut her up with pain pills. Personally, I would fill different colored capsules full of the real deal------sugar!! At some point, she would have enough. (In reality, a doctor would Never marry a Hypo)

I think it would work. The doctor knows most of the signs of the illness, and hypochondriacs usually approach people (including their own GP) whom don't know them well enough to diagnose it. Therefore the hypochondriac would hide it from partner and outgrow!!!
