Well, if I give a star, it is because I find the question interesting or challenging. Not simply because the person asked for one, or becuase I like the avatar.
You may not like the same question, but to me, that question is a bit above the rest of the questions.
Anyway, as far as I know, it has nothing to do with being a top contributer, or points or anything like that, but it is a way to say, good question. . .

I dont really see the point I thought you got points for them, but guess not. Its so that way you can see who stared a question if someone is connected to you I guess... Something to do another botton to click
