is it a big thing anymore? does any other girl skate? i wanna take it up but not be known as that weird girl that isn't as good as the boys and also i don't really want to be seen as one of the boys...any suggestions?

Well, women skateboarders are very rare. Most girls are girly and some have boyish attitudes. Any other girl besides you can skate. What you want to do, you can do it as long as it doesn't hurt anybody. And another thing, that feeling that you want to do it but can't 'coz you feel ridiculous is common. You just practice and practice. If they criticize you, just think, when it was their first try that's how it ends up. Everybody gets mistakes, especially on their first try. And if you got the hang of it but don't want to be seen with the boys, that's another thing. Why would you hide it if that's the way you really are? Besides, if you try and hide it, someday, one could find out and spread gossip everywhere. (That's even worse). To make it short, BE TRUE TO YOURSELF AND TO OTHERS.

I'm a female skater! I love it and you needn't feel that way. Being a skater is about expressing yourself without caring about what people think around you. It's about loving the feeling of the wind in your hair and taking the board where you want it to go. I'm admired for skating rather than put down, I doubt people would ever put you down.
It gets so easy to pick up skills once you get the hang of it. Try it and don't be worried what people think.
So hit the concrete waves, YOU'LL LOVE IT

My Granny is a skate boarder and she is very good at it,in fact she takes her skate board to bed in case someone nicks it.
So if you want to skate board go ahead as it will keep you slim and you wont have to diet. Good Luck

I see girls at our local skateboard park all the time, though not as many as boys. If you enjoy it, go for it and stop worrying how you will be perceived by others.

my friend (girl) can skateboard shes really good. i realllly wanna learn how to but im scared coz the last time i tried i fell and landed on my face. who cares wat other ppl think, its cool.. skateboarding. just dont dress like the boys and start racin them or watevr, u really shouldnt care wat ppl think. i know if i saw u, i would b a lil jealous coz i really wanna learn how to skatebord. go for it!

i do sakteboarding and i'm a girl. i don't think it's as much of a big thing as it was but i reckon its cool to skatboard if your a girl 'cause it's different.
