I think the reason why supports him is because it is extrordinarily difficult to find a qualified person to fill the position that agrees with him on things like torture, extrordinary rendition, suspensions of habeus corpus, illegal detentions, spying on civilians, evcicerating the fourth ammendment, etc. etc.

I definitely have to give you this one,I could not believe his testimony. It really sounded like he knew nothing about anything he's supposed to be in charge of. And another example of Bush's biggest weakness, his loyalty to people who prove incompetent. I couldn't believe when Bush said that Gonzales did good during his testimony, was he watching the same thing I was??? If I were Bush I would have fired Gonzales on national TV right after they closed the testimony, just walked up to him in front of God and everybody as he tried to walk out and done a good Donald Trump like "You're Fired"!!!

I think everybody except George W. Bush now agrees that Gonzalez should resign. I have personally cut the guy a lot of slack, but now consider his position untenable, as does most of the American public.
Bush only supports Gonzalez because he's not facing re-election, is a lame duck President and feels he's got nothing to lose by doing so. And Bush is incredibly single-minded (a polite term for "stubborn"). Bush and Gonzalez are going to leave office with big bank accounts; that's all they really care about. That's all most politicians/political appointees care about, when you think about it.

Oh, he remembers, all right. "I don't recall" is political speak the Republicans use, which means "I refuse to answer that".

I forget things too- only when I don't wish to remember them. It saves me a lot of trouble with women. What is wrong with that?
