Take a look at the following sites. The first one is Microsoft's own attempt at repairing a non-functioning AutoRun operation. (It needs to check that you have a valid copy of Windows.)

The second url takes you to a page discussing the AutoPlay function, and the third url takes you to a page where there's a Registry Patch to overcome non-functioning AutoPlay.

I've used the Microsoft option, and it's worked for me.

You have to upgrade your DVD ROM drive on the Internet because the peoples are making new DVDs( new technology ) that the old DVD ROM drives cant read it.

you have autorun turned off or the files on the disc do not have a function attached to them.
Right click on the drive and select properties then go to the autoplay tab and scroll through the options to select what you want the drive to do with type of file.

Do you have any DVD playing software installed? something like: Power DVD or InterVideo?

its an illegal dvd or your drive is not dvd capable
