20-20 Finals than an ODI Finals?
This I am stating without taking anything away from the great Gilchrist knock and the Aussie Power.
I had stated this even before the start of the Finals in my earlier question and other answers
The organisers have simply degraded what should have been a Great Finals.

Mr Vakayil,When a reserve day is there why not play it over two days( they were thinking to continue the last three overs the next day.) or have the entire match the next day.If it rained the second day too there is no other go obviously. It is however better than the penalty shoot out adopted in Football/hockey.

Degraded the final
They degraded the whole tournament with their pricing policy (locals couldn't afford to go so grounds were empty), strict rules on food & drink (if it wasn't a sponsors product you couldn't take it into the grounds), instruments (until later on they had to be booked in in advance) etc
It's been a shambles from teh start, and then you get the final, which should have been called off when they went off for bad light in the Sri Lanka innings but the umpires didn't even know the rules so sent them back out to finish the innings

A match should be played for the full 50 overs. If weather prevents completion of a total of 100 overs by both sides or a definite result after each side had the opportunity to play a full 50 overs each, only the incomplete part of the game and not the whole should be carried over to the next day. If there is disruption on the second day too, the outcome can be decided on the basis of curtailed overs. 20 20 matches can not ensure that a match will be completed on a single day. There have been instances, where matches were washed out after just a couple of overs had been played.

ICC Bias , Parcial & Unforssen Idiots>they were really interested in finishing the final so quickly.
From the beginning the Answerer Called " mr.Vakayil"
alwaystried to prove New zealand & australia is the best.
he fell in to such aposition to explain everything
possible to "write off Sri Lankans"
he is so Australian worshiper i doubt whether he wears a
decent dress.
i may say this "Vaka -ill " is noting more than
Very few Indians who Vandalse Indian Cricketer Dhoni's House.actually he might have led The people to break Indian cricketers houses& burn their puppets.he has grudge against
SRi lanka cuz his favourite team was beaten by Lions & tigers.
Putting a Squash Ball in a Batting Glove is illegal
by ICC laws.Infact any thing...But one ausie did it.
So keep your mouth shut about it........!!!
that's why i say ,..This was a "Staged -drama" to award Australia the 2007 world Cup.
no body like to accuse gilchrist nor australia.
whem Cronje did this it was a "big hue & cry."
when Asie does that everybody accept it.
too bad man, disguting.but now
some people start to say it was More ....Like "WWF"- Wrestling Drama, everything went on according to the script.Whilst I am not that happy nesessarily, that Australia has won the World Cup.But I feel for Sri Lanka who never really had a decent chance to chase the Australian's total. A "Terrible end to a Disappointing" World Cup which has done nothing to advance the game.
this reallydirects towards ICC so mostly we should blame the ICC who seem to make up rules as they go along. Personally I would have liked to see the match moved to Sunday so that we could have a real game of cricket and not the joke that ensued.
AUS got WC 2007 , but SL played under pressure. When the Final was on the same time their Capital city was attacked by Terrorists.Rain took over the match.
Toss was the ridiculously deciding Facter.
Sri Lankan Players got the ....................
"Terrorists attacking Colombo"- news and Panicked ..
and that did not exactly helped to Lankan course to Victory
much.
Their(Cricketers) kids wives & parents all living in Colombo.
They dont know how far it affected ,towards > target & Bad light as well as Rain.
And even limit the final to 25 overs. ( In rainy day even kid knows dark will come soon in evening )
Begining ICC has to limit this game to 25 overs or call to next day.
But ICC & organizers want "Business" than the cricket game.
No doubt AUS is a good team.
So how SL or any other team can face "OZ" in bad lights?
This is the worst game I ever saw. Organisers had no common sense at all. they did according to the "Script" that Somehow or other "Australia must Win"
We were in no need of the victory so badly like Australia.
But we don't want like this stupid End either.
we did not bribe Umpires.we didnot Bragged either.
I again wish,Long live asian Cricket.
It can hurt ausies a bit ,i surely know. But ICC descrimination towards Asian players ? Can it be Pardened?
Dissapointing world cup Ever....2007
now every body jump to say dont blame
on these Noble Australians.
Oh phuleeeze .. gimme a break...!!..What a hypocracy,
what i can not understand is some Asian peolpe seems deaf & bling about this
when in Australia once Murali Was bowling The Racist australian crowd shouted that " no Ball"
Inthat match whenever Muralitharan took the Ball..
these so called Noble Australian Racist shouted
" no Ball"...." NO ball"...they chanted all the while.anybody ,objected?
I dont think soHave any stood up against it ?SOME Fans..EH?
some cricket loving fans...
Parden them? you gonna say that?
when we now criticize them what they do?
They use dirty language..They use dirty language..
But.. they get away all the time..why?
Cuz they R so good at acting Innocent....Squash ball or his ball , dont Talk.
.
what ever it's Australia..you R supposed to
shut your ****...about it
we love The Galent Sri Lankans(Lions)

I have to agree with you on this one. Devoid of taking anything away from the Aussies, the 2007 ICC CWC final match brought disrepute to the beautiful game called cricket. In as much as it is desirable that timetables be adhered to, it is also desirable that the millions of cricket fans accross the world be allowed to watch a respectable game partcilarly in view of the fact that it was the last game of the tornament. I opine that the last match was not treated with respect on the part of the officials at all, as if they were disppointed in the two teams which made it to the final or to be more specific, in Sri Lanka for making it to the final, and believe me I am from South Africa but I take nothing away from Sri Lankans for making it to the final. I hope things like this will not continue to spoil the beautiful sport in the nearby future. Lastly, better luck to our boys the Proteas next time!!! Forever Proudly South African!!!

Ultimately tired man Cricket chief -Malcolm Speed agreed on Sunday that the 2007 World Cup would be chiefly remembered for the death of coach Bob Woolmer and the chaotic aspects of the final.
when the ground is soppy , they should have postponed the Final to most probable sunday.
instead they wanted australia to win badly, went on to finish
the Match on Satanic Saterday

The finals should have been played on Sunday. If it still rained on Sunday, then all the rules and measures or D/Lewis could have been taken. It was not exciting, we knew that Aus would win it just after they won the toss. Well it's over now, hope we could see a better WC next time.

I too fully agree with you that the authorities should have made sure that the game should have been of 50 overs. However, what was the guarantee that it will not rain the next day too and even 38 overs would have been possible? Under the circumstances 38 overs is considered to be fair.
