I think it's just rude, kind of like "thanks for answering but I don't care!"

Yes, and it really makes no sense, because they gain back 3 of the 5 points they lost to ask the question if they pick the best answer. Who wouldn't want to do that?

I do. I think if someone takes the time to answer your question, you can at least read the answers and pick one. I hate to get best answer because of a vote.

No, because not all answer have a "Best Answer". If you are answering a question that is asking you age, there is no "Best Answer". If you are answering a question that is asking for help on a math problem, there is a better chance of there being a "Best Answer".

I like getting best answers because of a vote, if it's more than one vote then you know your answer was best and not just picked by the Q because they know you.

I accidentally let one of my questions go to a vote.
And no, you didn't have the best answer on that one. So don't worry about it. And I promise not to do it again, or you can give me a thumbs down.

i think the asker should pick instead of letting it go to voting...
first of all its the askers question so the asker should pick within a short period...
and it doesnt matter who gets picked... after all it IS the askers question.. so its the askers choice..
second.. the asker loses points for asking so they can make up some of those lost points by chosing which is best...
i cant beleive all the questions that go to voting... such a waste of questions... its like the asker really didnt care..

Yes.
I think it's really rude.
They've expected us to take time to answer their question - the least they can do is choose a best answer to show they've actually bothered to read the answers.
Just leaving it to go to in-voting is ridiculous as often an incorrect answer is chosen as best.
Yeah, it gets me annoyed.

Yes, it makes me angry PLUS I think that a lot of people delete their questions after they hear what they want to hear!!
